Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, evil spirits, and sinister influences increasing in power within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of the new season lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled
The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the central cast to begin their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table features the determined fighter (portrayed by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that maintaining everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might appear out of place, but the developments of the latest installment demonstrate why these five characters are best suited for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the team has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—used the foes for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to auction.
The traitor then cleared his debts and fled to a fortified location in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each character has a personal reason to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team enter areas they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, Teor vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now go with him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and The cleric turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The fighter is marked for death by the family.
This means them no alternative but to head to the northern region in search of Casimir.
Upcoming Developments
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the cast members to round up the Seekers and Planners parties.
Fans can anticipate discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
